Dennis got his start while attending The University of Florida, and has been an air personality for legendary stations throughout the country, including Atlanta's WQXI-FM (94Q).
He was also well known throughout the industry as a successful Program Manager for broadcast properties in some of the toughest and most competitive radio markets in the country, including WFOX-FM (Fox 97) Atlanta, WMGF-FM Milwaukee, WMGG-FM Tampa, KLDE-FM Houston, and WOGL-FM Philadelphia.
As Program Manager in a variety of music and talk formats, Dennis was responsible for hiring, training, and directly supervising on-air personalities, designing market research and planning and executing competitive strategy from the results of that research, mapping out promotional campaigns, and supervising departmental budgets of up to $1,000,000.
His resume includes program management for major players in the industry such as CBS, Cox, Entercom, Chancellor Broadcasting, Bonneville, and the Disney family’s Shamrock Broadcasting. He also served as General Manager of WNUY-FM in Bluffton, Indiana, a move-in to the Fort Wayne metro, and until December 2012, spent 5 years as Program Operations Manager for four of Northern Broadcast’s FM properties in Traverse City, Michigan.
Dennis has consulted stations all over the country beginning in the mid 80's with The Woodfin Group stations in Columbus, Georgia, and Panama City, Florida, flipping their two stations to Adult Contemporary (soft rock) formats, and debuting with double digit ratings. In fact, WFSY in Panama City set a national format record at the time with a 34 share of adults 25-54 in its first book. He's also consulted or done projects, for stations in Chattanooga, Sacramento, and Des Moines, as well as for national network syndicators, and currently consults WBPC (“Beach 95.1”) in Panama City.
Dennis has served on advisory boards for the NAB Radio Show, the Midwest Conclave, and the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. He has a BS in Advertising from The University of Florida, and did graduate work in the Communications Department at Florida State University, where he taught undergraduate broadcasting classes as a grad assistant.
Dennis was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2009.
Dennis is married and has 3 beautiful “30-something” daughters, and lives in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, Georgia. He and wife Susan spend summers on Beaver Island, Michigan, where he is a co-founder and member of the programming team for WVBI, Beaver Island.
